The dream is over
as the US economic crisis affects the film industry: Twelve years after its founding, DreamWorks SKG (coming close to bankruptcy twice) is sold to Viacom, parent company of Paramount Pictures, for $1.6 billion – with Spielberg remaining “principal partner” of DreamWorks.

Spielberg’s collaboration with Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald ends. For his next projects, he returns to producers Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall.
