Steven Spielberg postpones Robopocalypse indefinitely.

The sci-fi action film is based on the 2011 book by Daniel H. Wilson. Financing was to be split between 20th Century Fox and DreamWorks. Anne Hathaway, Chris Hemsworth, and Ben Whishaw were in talks to star.

Drew Goddard, who wrote the scripts for Cloverfield (2008) and The Cabin in the Woods (2012), pens the adaptation. Spielberg spokesman Marvin Levy explains the project is “too important and the script is not ready, and it’s too expensive to produce. It’s back to the drawing board to see what is possible.”
